The 2023–24 Roeper Upper School Forensics Team’s season came to an exciting conclusion on May 4 at the Class B/CD Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association (MIFA) State Tournament. The cumulative scores of all 13 team members over the two-day event earned Roeper the coveted first place Class CD State Championship trophy, which will be proudly displayed at Roeper until next year’s state tournament.
Every student had amazing season-end performances, with Cosmo Steffke in prose and Jeannelyn Newsome in storytelling placing just outside of the top 12, and Meira Gable in program oral interpretation, Kaitlyn Gruber, and Neel Grover in duo commentary, and Caleb Hoover in dramatic interpretation named top 12 semifinalists in their categories. Seven team members were finalists, meaning they placed among the top six or seven students in the entire state in their category, including Anna Stuntz 7th in informative 9/10, Justice Broughton 6th in prose, Eli Miller 4th in program oral interpretation, Hollis Perry 4th in poetry, Johnathan Dinneweth 3rd in informative, Vaughn Roycraft 3rd in dramatic interpretation, and Liv Mardiros 2nd in informative 9/10.
We invite the community to come and celebrate with us as these talented team members share their award-winning pieces Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. in the Upper School’s Acheson Theater during Roeper Forensics’ annual Spring Forensics Night.
