This post is part of a series introducing our new faculty for the 2024-2025 school year. Please be sure to introduce yourselves to them!

PAIGE WILSON

From Denita Banks-Sims, Development Director:

Paige ’08, joined the Roeper Staff as the Stewardship and Gifts Associate and an integral member of the of the Development Office.

For some, the first recollection of Paige as a student might conjure up her megawatt smile and unfailingly gracious and joyous spirit. Those qualities, as well as a wealth of experience and database technical skills, are in full evidence since she accepted the position last March. We look forward to further advancing the school’s institutional funding priorities with her influence and collaboration.

In addition to her professional turns at Venture Steel and United Wholesale Mortgage, Paige served with honor and distinction in the Armed Forces and earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo and an MBA from Lawrence Technological University.

She has already made a wonderful impact, and her talents have extended further as she has been an enthusiastic addition to the Athletic Staff as both a Track and Field and Volleyball coach.

Paige's answers to our questions:

What is your new position at Roeper - details like what subjects you will be teaching, which division and are you working with other faculty?

I work in the Development Office in the Hill House as the Stewardship and Gifts Associate with Denita, Shani and Jenny. I am responsible for managing the database and gift processing along with a variety of other tasks that are executed within the Development Office with other departmental collaboration. I also coach MS Volleyball and US track and field.

What were one or two highlights of your life?

I joined and served in the U.S. Army for 6 years where I met amazing people from all over and got to see parts of the world in that short time. Those experiences have shaped me for the better and I’m grateful to have had that a part of my legacy. I also just recently rewarded myself with a beautiful new home I was able to snag just before the market fluctuations began.

If you could live anywhere worldwide for a year, where would it be and why?

Denver because the view will never get old to me! I love looking at the surreal landscape of the mountains and how picturesque they are from all angles. It’s a very calming place to be.

What would you like to share about yourself, your family, and your birthplace?

I was born and raised in Pontiac, MI for the majority of my life by a police officer,  my mother, and a Marine veteran, my father.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

CrossFit, watching Lions and UoM football and going to their games, watching college basketball and going to their games, hanging with friends and family, playing flag football, writing, reading, coaching and watching crime documentaries.

What is a topic or skill that you love to teach or share and why?

I would love to get the opportunity to teach business/finance to the kids because the more they know now the better prepared they will be to settle in their own home and be knowledgeable of things when the market is fluctuating. I believe the more money management skills you have early on the better you are set up for success in your later years even when mistakes are made.

What is it that appealed to you about Roeper when you took the position?

I am back home and the goal of my work is to continue to live out George and Annemarie’s dream as I collaboratively work alongside everyone to further the education of our students to know not just how to be a student but to be a full person and share their gifts along the way.
