Roeper Middle School Students Named State Champions at State Forensics Tournament

The Roeper Middle School Forensics Team competed at the Middle School State Forensics Tournament at Wayne State University on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Over 500 Michigan students competed in this tournament. The team of Roeper students performed brilliantly with many students receiving 1st through 7th place in the state.

Following are the students who placed in the State:

7th grader, Julie Eddy of Troy, and 6th grader, Lucie Rosenthal of Huntington Woods, became a State Champions by placing 1st in the state with perfect scores in Duo.

8th grader, Max Berlin of Huntington Woods, became a State Champion by placing 1st in the state with perfect scores in Storytelling.

6th grader, Jordyn Wexler of Orchard Lake, became a State Champion by placing 1st in the state with perfect scores in Story-6.

8th grader, Rachel Stamler-Jonas of Royal Oak, placed 2nd in the state in Dramatic Interpretation.

7th grader, Ian Solomon of Clinton Township, placed 4th in the state in Poetry.

6th grader, Naomi Savas of Bloomfield, placed 4th in the state in Story-6.

6th graders, Josh Eisenman of Beverly Hills, Maha Hashwi of Dearborn, Michelle Ratchford of Southfield and 8th grader, Jack McGinty of Canton, placed 4th in the state in Multiple.

6th graders, Jake Flynn of Troy, Jon Hatcher of Auburn Hills, Calvin Lind of Ortonville and Matthew Uncho of Bloomfield, placed 7th in the state in Multiple.

8th graders, Jeffrey Fox of West Bloomfield and Nadia Minart of Lake Orion, tied for 7th in the state in Duo.

8th graders, Akiko Abe and Jackie Gordin both of Detroit, tied for 7th in the state in Duo.

The remaining members of the Roeper team also competed very strongly.
