ROEPER SUMMER SPECIALTY CAMPS 2017
In addition to our well-known Day Camp and Summer Stock Theatre programs, Roeper Summer Specialty Camps are designed to meet specific interests of students. These camps are smaller in size and shorter in duration allowing campers to have fun and learn from Roeper teachers who are experts in their fields. All Roeper Summer Specialty Camps EXCEPT the Technology Camp will be held at The Roeper School's Birmingham campus. The Technology Camp will be held on The Roeper School's Bloomfield Hills campus.
SPECIALTY CAMPS OFFERED:
The Roeper All Things French Camp for students currently in 1st through 4th grade is open to all levels of French speakers as well as those with no experience. Learn the French language and culture in this engaging French experience.
The Roeper Scholastic Chess Camp has been created for students currently in 2nd through 7th grade who wish to learn, study and have fun with chess. This program is designed for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students. On the final day of camp, campers will participate in a chess tournament.
The Roeper Forensics Acting Camp is a two-week long program for students currently in 4th through 8th grade in which students use plays, stories, poems, or their own writing to focus in on the details of performance and public speaking. Students can perform in a solo piece, with a partner, or in a group performance. Participants will be working with some of the top forensics coaches in the state of Michigan!
The Roeper Multi-Media Art Camp is open to students currently in grades 3-11. In this is a two-week half-day program, campers will explore a range of approaches to art through hands on activities. The joy of working with clay, drawing, painting and other experimental methods will be explored.
The Roeper Photography Workshop Camp is a unique hands on experience where students explore the magic of black and white pinhole photography using an authentic darkroom. Students currently in 6th to 11th grade will shoot a variety of pinhole cameras, produce paper negative, make positives in the darkroom and learn how to hand color black and white photographs.
The Roeper Science Camp has been created for students currently in 5th through 7th grades. It is an opportunity for middle school students who love science to explore science concepts with hands-on activities in real-life situations.
The Roeper Technology Camp is a two week half day program for students currently in 5th through 7th grade that gives students the opportunity to build valuable STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math – skills.
