The Board of Trustees has established several endowment funds to sustain The Roeper School not just for a year, a decade, or a generation, but in perpetuity. By preparing for the future, we are providing a foundation that will allow Roeper to continue as an extraordinary school community and leader in gifted education
Created primarily from donations, endowment funds are monies typically held in long-term investments with the principal remaining untouched, allowing the funds to have greater impact over time. The money may be permanently restricted, temporarily restricted, or unrestricted in its use, based on the request and intent of the donor or, in the case of board designated funds, by a vote of the Board of Trustees.
The money held in our pooled endowment funds generate interest and dividend income that may be used to support programs, financial aid, and other special initiatives by providing a permanent ongoing source of revenue, thus improving the ability of the administration and the Board of Trustees to plan for the long-term financial health of the school.
Management of our endowment fund follows best practices of accounting and reporting, as established by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and exemplary best practice and fiduciary integrity by the administration and Board of Trustees. This allows The Roeper School’s current and future needs to be met through careful, thoughtful, and informed supervision of the finance and investment committees.
THE ROEPER ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS has been established by Michael Gloster, Jeremy Gloster (2011) and Liam Gloster (2014) in memory of Anne Denning-Gloster. The endowment will support six artistic disciplines including the visual arts, music, dance, photography, writing and film.
THE BERNARD FAMILY FORENSICS AND DEBATE ENDOWMENT FUND was recently established to increase student participation, opportunities for enhanced tournament competition, and assistance in securing coaching resources to support the Middle and Upper School Forensics and Debate programs.
