Karen Roeper '66 spent three days at the school in February teaching her body awareness program called Essential Motion. She was joined by her colleague Jane Flint and it was fascinating to watch them adapt the program on the fly for students from Stage II through seniors, and teachers. Karen’s work is about helping people develop a dialogue with their bodies to balance the constant dialogue with their heads. This practice creates a body-mind mix of information she called “embodied awareness” that allows one to move through the world more playfully, authentically, and comfortably, with less judgment and more compassion. She has taught it to individual clients and has trained teachers around the world. You can learn more at http://www.essential-motion.com.
